We've been building business value with data and AI for more than 20 years. Long before it was sexy.
One thing we've learned over those years is that successfully harnessing AI & automation requires careful alignment of Go To Market, Marketing, Comms, Customer Support, Strategy & Legal, all the while navigating rapidly evolving vendor technologies, market dynamics, and legal/ethical considerations.
Scientific and engineering knowledge is necessary but not sufficient.
And when it is appropriate to focus specifically on the technology, traditional software engineering experience is only part of the story. Because AI systems don't behave like traditional software. Taming non-deterministic algorithms, with their bias and drift, into useful and valuable commercial products is a skill honed over years.
The majority of technical teams have only started becoming familiar with AI since the commercial rise of Generative AI. While Gen AI brings new opportunities, both the algorithms and techniques are additive, and we've found again and again that knowledge of everything that came before it is critical to useful Gen AI implementations.
